Lamichhane was born on September 5, 1974, in Jhapa district in Nepal. He became a journalist in the early 2000s and worked with various media outlets in Nepal, including Radio Nepal, Kantipur FM, and Nepal Television. In 2017, he started hosting the popular talk show, "Sidha Kura Janta Sanga," which focused on social issues and allowed viewers to call in and ask questions of experts and authorities.
Apart from journalism, Lamichhane was involved in various social activities and was known for his philanthropy. He founded the Help Nepal Network, a non-profit organization that worked to provide aid and support to underprivileged people in Nepal. In recognition of his contributions to society, he was honored with several awards, including the "Nepal Service Excellence Award" and the "Mahendra Vidya Bhusan" award in 2018.
In 2019, Lamichhane was arrested by Nepali authorities on charges of abetting the suicide of journalist Shalikram Pudasaini. The case sparked a nationwide protest movement, with thousands of people in Nepal and around the world calling for his release. After spending nearly two months in police custody, he was released on bail.
Lamichhane passed away on August 14, 2020, in his apartment in Kathmandu. The cause of his death is still unknown, but it is rumored that he took his own life. His death was met with shock and grief across Nepal and beyond, with thousands of people paying tribute to him on social media and holding vigils in his honor.
